How to Support the Fauquier County Livestock Show & Sale
There are many ways that you can support our efforts!
1. Sponsor a class or an award
Is there a specific award like the Herdsman, Carcass, or Grand Champion that is special to you? Are you particularly fond of a specific class? This is a great option for alumni and local folks who want to contribute to a specific portion of the Show & Sale.
2. Sponsor the Buyer's Dinner
Each year we host a Buyer's Dinner for the buyer's from the previous year as a thank you.
3. Purchase an animal during the sale

4. Donate to the Scholarship Hog Fund
Each year a graduating exhibitor raises a hog that will be auctioned during the sale to benefit the Scholarship Fund. Graduating exhibitors who have participated for at least 3 years are eligible to receive a scholarship.
5. Share information with others about Show & Sale!

Interested in purchasing a Project Animal?
Participating in a 4-H or FFA market animal project is a big commitment, for months (or longer for steers) exhibitors work hard to raise their animals to market standards, keeping them healthy and happy, and getting them ready for the show ring. Many of the youth reinvest their money into future projects or save for continued education. Purchasing an animal is a special act of support for youth, without buyers these projects would not be possible.
There are several options for purchasing an animal. Don't let that phrase scare you, you don't actually have to take the animal home!
1. You want to keep that animal - place the winning bid during the sale and head on over to the sales office. If you know that you are purchasing an animal to keep, we recommend arranging for a slot at a local slaughter house. We have limited slots at Fauquier's Finest to accommodate our sale. If your animal is going to a slaughter house other than Fauquier's Finest, you must arrange for delivery of that animal yourself.
Keep in mind, there are fees associated with processing and you must provide a cut sheet to the slaughter house with your preferences. Then, when the animal has been processed, the slaughter house will get in touch with you to pick up your meat.
2. You do not want to keep the animal - if you place the winning bid on an exhibitors animal during the sale, but do not want to take that animal home, you have the option of "flooring" it. Flooring means that you will pay the difference between the winning bid and the predetermined floor price of that animal. You will no longer be responsibile for the animal and it will be taken to the livestock market instead. Basically, you are making a donation to the exhibitor as you will not receive any product in return.
